Matterhorn presents their electrifying brand of jazz filled with searing horn lines, churning rhythmic grooves, and healthy doses of otherworldly soundscapes led by NY trumpeter, composer, and educator John Blevins. Their sophomore album, UZUMATI, released October 12th, 2018 on ears&eyes Records featuring John Blevins (Trumpet/Effects/Synthesizers/Compositions), Drew Williams (Bass Clarinet/Tenor Saxophone/Effects/Microbrute Synth/Compositions), Jeff McLaughlin (Guitar/Effects), Jesse Bielenberg (Bass/Effects), Nathan Ellman-Bell (Drums/Cymbals/Percussion/Roland SPD), and John Doing (Percussion/Glockenspiel). The band’s eponymous debut album was produced by Shane Endsley of the acclaimed post-rock/jazz outfit Kneebody and released on pfMENTUM records in 2015.

Long in the gestation but immediate in its impact, Wing Walker Orchestra's debut album, Hazel is a great introduction to one of the East Coast's liveliest ensembles. The recording, produced by Alan Ferber, will be released on February 8th, 2019 on ears&eyes Records. Hazel boasts serial surprises, including an adventurous suite written and arranged by leader Drew Williams that is based on the popular graphic novel, Saga, and an intoxicating cover of Tune-Yards' "Look Around." This isn't your mom or dad's big band music, but a work of airy futurism with its layered effects, electronic touches and "inside" debt to such bands as Radiohead, Guillermo Klein's Los Guachos and the Bad Plus. In a recent review, Bird is the Worm writes: “There is something massively appealing about the casual feel to the delivery of this eleven piece ensemble. The loose flow provides all kinds of breathing room for an array of textures to emerge and shine strong. And when you add a lovely, embraceable melody to that quality, now you’ve got something bordering on addiction."
