What happens when technology takes control? What happens when free notation and random variation is computer controlled?

What happens when the audience has agency to influence the sounds in real time?!

¡Revolución!

From the simple to the sublime, tech is at the core of this 75 minute set of electroacoustic Mexican music.

Midwest and World Premieres by Jorge Sosa, Gabriela Ortiz, Luis Fernando Amaya, Arturo Fuentes, and Javier Álvarez will take you on a sonic adventure. Soar like a condor in Amaya’s Pregunta #2. Feel the vortex of El Trompo by Ortiz.

Anticipate the final countdown of the Mayan calendar in Sosa’s Time Wave Zero. Participate in the performance and take command of Álvarez’ electronic sound world using Joel Corelitz’ Shortwave.xyz interactive platform in the grand finale supported by an International Connections Grant from the MacArtur Foundation.

"Fulcrum Point is a big reason new music has found its groove. No performing arts group in the city has more avidly explored the cutting-edge connections among the world of new classical music, pop culture, technology and other fields than Stephen Burns and the Fulcrum Point New Music Project.” - John von Rhein, Chicago Tribune
