Movement Revolution Dance Crew
Movement Revolution Dance Crew was founded in 2010 by Chicago native Monternez Rezell. As Artistic Director, Monte takes street dance to another level by integrating the street culture into concert dance; all while paying tribute to the founders and originators of the hip hop culture. MRDC performs all styles of hip-hop including breaking, popping, locking, waving, housing and tricking. MRDC also uses the elements of jazz, lyrical, contemporary and African dance to create movement in a way that pushes the limits of dance and creates new possibilities for endless style. Their motto is “Dance is our ART, Movement is our paint brush and the World is our Canvas!”
In addition to performing, MRDC takes pride in sharing their knowledge, passion and dance skills with students of all ages across the Chicago-land area. MRDC is currently partners with the American Rhythm Center as well as 3 non-profit organizations; 'Matli Dance Academy, Youth Guidance and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project. Members of Movement Revolution Dance Crew travel to various elementary and high schools teaching “Healthy Hip Hop”. This dance and performing arts program serves youth in underprivileged neighborhoods with a focus that enriches students, introduces them to music and dance as well as teaches them life lessons through Hip Hop. Healthy Hip Hop teaches students the value of positive art; Peace, Love, Unity and having Fun. The Healthy Hip Hop motto is “Healthy Independent People, Helping Other People!"
