Shi An Costello & Tara Lynn Ramsey
Tara Lynn Ramsey and Shi-An Costello join forces to perform music by Jeffrey Mumford, John Cage, Brian Ferneyhough, Morgan Krauss, Keith Kusterer and Shi-An Costello.

Others have described composer-pianist Shi-An Costello (世 安) as “a tour de force… a thoughtful and adventurous artist” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), “a precise, engaged, welcoming performer unafraid of deep ambiguities” (Chicago Reader), “trailblazing a path truly unique” (Pianoforte Foundation). In addition to music, Shi-An has steadily developed a career as a writer and actor over the past few years. Since 2015, they performed with TUTA Theater group, The LivingRoom, Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences, and independent shows at the Frequency Festival and the Chicago Fringe Festival, at venues such as Victory Gardens, Stage 773, and the Chicago Cultural Center; As a writer, since 2016, Shi-An has contributed articles to FOCI Arts, chicshifter, Riksha, Performance Response Journal, NewMusicBox, Cacophony Magazine as well as the book anthology, Art Matters. Their solo debut CD, Rounded Binary, will be released with Blue Griffin Records in Fall of 2017, featuring preludes and fugues of J.S. Bach and Dmitri Shostakovich. Violinist Tara Lynn Ramsey enjoys a varied career as a chamber musician, new music interpreter, orchestral leader, and teacher. She is a member of Ensemble Dal Niente and has been a guest artist on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW series. With flutist Shanna Gutierrez and keyboardist Andrew Rosenblum, Tara Lynn recently cofounded the ensemble Memoria Nova, which programs lesser-known works from across the spectrum of musical history. Recent solo appearances include Bach Brandenburg Concerti with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and a Vivaldi concerto with the Chicago Sinfonietta. She performed with cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors and in a string quartet at his 2017 Concert for Peace on Chicago's south side, and has served as concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and numerous festival orchestras.
